Powhatan State Park, 1,565 acres on the historic James River in the northwest corner of Powhatan County about 45 minutes from Richmond, offers three yurts in its main campground. Each yurt sleeps three people maximum and features a large wooden deck with patio tables, a picnic table and a fire ring with cooking grate; guests bring their own linens and pillows. There is no electricity, though each yurt has a water spigot, and Yurt A is wheelchair-accessible. Campers use the nearby campground bathhouse. The park features 2.5 miles of James River waterfront with three boat launches, making it popular for canoeing and kayaking trips.
