Accessibility Statement

Last reviewed July 1, 2026

The outdoors should be findable by everyone. USA Glamping Directory aims to make this directory usable by people of all abilities, including those using screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or voice control.

Our standard

We target conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. This is a working target we build and test against, not a certification — accessibility is an ongoing effort, and we treat reported issues as bugs to fix, not feedback to file away.

What we've built for accessibility

  • Semantic HTML throughout — real headings in order, landmarks (header, nav, main, footer), lists, and buttons, so screen readers can navigate by structure.
  • Full keyboard operability as a requirement, not an afterthought: every link, button, form field, and filter is reachable and usable without a mouse.
  • Forms with programmatically associated labels, required-field indicators, and status messages announced via ARIA roles.
  • A color palette designed for contrast, and information never conveyed by color alone (for example, sponsored listings carry a text label, not just styling).
  • Text alternatives on meaningful images wherever our data sources provide them, and decorative graphics hidden from assistive technology.
  • A responsive, mobile-first layout that supports browser zoom and text resizing without loss of content or function.

Known limitations

Being honest about where we fall short matters more than claiming perfection. Current known limitations:

Interactive maps

Map interfaces are inherently difficult to use with screen readers. Everything shown on a map is also available as a browsable, filterable list — by state and by accommodation type — so no listing is reachable only through the map.

Third-party images

Some listing photos arrive from open data sources without descriptive text. Where a meaningful description isn't available, alt text may be generic. We improve these as listings are claimed and updated by owners.

External booking sites

Listings link out to property websites we don't control, and we can't vouch for their accessibility. Our contact form is an accessible fallback if you need help reaching a property's information.

Found a barrier? Tell us.

If any part of this site is difficult or impossible for you to use, we want to know — it goes to the top of the fix list. Please describe the page, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology or browser you were using via the contact form. The form itself is built to be screen-reader and keyboard friendly.
