Vega State Park, on the northeast edge of the Grand Mesa near Collbran at roughly 8,000 feet, offers five rustic cabins nestled in a lush grove of aspens in the Pioneer Campground. Each cabin sleeps up to six people on bunk beds with mattresses and includes a propane stove heater, electrical outlets and lights, a refrigerator, and a microwave, with a picnic table and fire grate outside and paved parking for easy access. The cabins are available year-round, including winter, when the park serves as a gateway to Grand Mesa snowmobiling and cross-country ski trails; in summer, Vega Reservoir offers trout fishing and boating. Pets are permitted in cabins 1, 2, and 5 for a $10-per-night fee.
