The Yurt is one of four backcountry structures maintained by the Mount Tahoma Trails Association, a volunteer-run nonprofit operating a hut-to-hut trail system near Mt. Rainier National Park in Washington. Located in the association's South District alongside High Hut and Bruni's Snow Bowl Hut, the Yurt is reachable in winter via groomed trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, and in summer by hiking along forest roads. Both day and overnight reservations are offered for the season. This is a true backcountry experience: guests must be self-reliant, prepared for wilderness conditions, and carry the ten essentials. The nonprofit relies on donations and memberships to keep these free and low-cost recreation opportunities available.
