Yukla Yurt
Anchorage, AK
About this stay
Yukla Yurt sits about two miles up the historic Iditarod Trail near Eagle River, tucked into the Chugach Mountains at the edge of true Alaskan wilderness yet reachable by mostly flat, easy trails from the Eagle River Nature Center. The circular yurt sleeps up to six on plywood bunks and is simply but thoughtfully outfitted with a table and four chairs, a wood stove with firewood supplied in a nearby shed, a deck, a latrine, and a bear-proof food storage locker. The surrounding area is reserved for non-motorized recreation, making it a natural base for hiking, skiing, and snowshoeing, with river access to Eagle River close at hand. Operated by the Eagle River Nature Center, the yurt is available year-round, though some access trails may close seasonally due to bear activity.
