Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, 50 miles north of Eureka near Orick, offers four camping cabins in Elk Prairie Campground, where Roosevelt elk regularly graze the meadow. All four cabins are ADA accessible and have electricity, heaters and lights, but no kitchen or bathroom — campground restrooms are nearby. Each cabin contains two bunk beds (a twin over a double) without mattress pads, sleeping a maximum of six people; guests bring their own bedding. Outside, each cabin has a barbecue, fire pit, bear box and picnic bench. The campground adjoins old-growth redwood trails within Redwood National and State Parks. Reserve through ReserveCalifornia.
