Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park Yurts & Cabins

Ontonagon, MI

About this stay

Michigan's largest state park offers four backcountry wilderness yurts, each sleeping four with bunk beds, mattresses, a wood-heating stove, table and chairs, plus a fire circle, axe, bow saw and basic cookware outside. There is no running water or electricity; a vault toilet is nearby, and yurts require a hike-in of 100 yards to 2.5 miles from designated trailheads. The park also rents 19 backcountry rustic cabins sleeping two to eight, equipped with bunk beds, wood stoves and cooking utensils, most reached by hikes up to 9 miles and many sited beside lakes with a boat provided. The Union Bay Tiny Quill House on Lake Superior sleeps four with electricity, propane heat and a small kitchen.
