Farragut State Park covers 4,000 acres at the southern tip of Lake Pend Oreille in the Coeur d'Alene Mountains, 20 miles south of Sandpoint's neighbor Coeur d'Alene and 26 miles from Sandpoint. Alongside 223 individual campsites and seven group camps, the park rents ten camping cabins bookable through the Idaho State Parks reservation system. Idaho State Parks describes its one-room camper cabins statewide as sleeping up to five on bunk beds and futons. The former World War II naval training station is one of Idaho's largest state parks, with extensive hiking and biking trails, a model airplane airfield and lake access.
