Emigrant Springs State Heritage Area, near the summit of the Blue Mountains between Pendleton and La Grande, preserves a spring where Oregon Trail travelers replenished water supplies. Set in mature forest, the park rents 6 rustic cabins sleeping up to 5, each with one room holding a table, four chairs, a futon and a bunk bed (full on bottom, twin on top), plus an outside porch, picnic table and fire pit; cabins 1, 2, 3 and 5 are pet-friendly. A duplex cabin adds two reservable sides sleeping 3 per side with bunk bed, table and chairs. Reservations open six months in advance.
