Columbus-Belmont State Park, on Mississippi River bluffs in far western Kentucky, is one of only two Kentucky state parks offering ready-to-sleep camping rentals: the parks system lists fully equipped camping units here for guests who want to experience camping for the first time. The rentals — two furnished camping trailers and a log cabin, each with kitchen and bath and sleeping six — are reserved by calling the park directly rather than online. They sit within a year-round, 38-site campground where every site has water and electric hookups, a patio with picnic table and fire ring, and eleven sites add sewer hookups. The Civil War-era park preserves earthworks and a giant anchor and chain.
