Cape Disappointment State Park, where the Columbia River meets the Pacific near Ilwaco, rents round canvas yurts within walking distance of the beach. Each yurt is 16 feet in diameter and 10 feet high with electric heat, lights and a locking door, and sleeps up to five guests on a bunk bed that sleeps three plus a futon couch that sleeps two; bed linens are not provided. Cooking and smoking are not allowed inside, but each yurt has an outdoor fire pit and picnic table, with park bathrooms nearby. The setting mixes old-growth forest, freshwater lakes, two lighthouses and ocean beach. Reservations open up to nine months in advance; pets are not allowed in these yurts.
