Baxter State Park Wilderness Cabins
Millinocket, ME
About this stay
Baxter State Park rents historic wilderness cabins at two pond-front campgrounds in the shadow of Katahdin. Kidney Pond has 13 cabins of varied size, most reached by a short walk-in (one requires a one-mile paddle or hike), while Daicey Pond offers 10 cabins that reopened after a 2024-2025 renovation. All cabins are rustic: beds with mattresses (bring your own bedding), table and chairs, and firewood provided, but no electricity, running water, kitchens, or indoor plumbing — campers use privy toilets and carry in water. Nesowadnehunk Field adds a two-person cabin, Camp Cozy, plus an eight-person bunkhouse, and Roaring Brook has a ten-person bunkhouse. Reservations run through Baxter's own online system, separate from Maine's state campground portal.
